15 Reasons You Shouldn't Ignore Best Double Buggy

The Best Double Buggy Strollers

If you're expecting twins, or have two young children of different age groups, then a double buggy will help you out and about. The best ones are easy to manoeuvre and deal with rough surfaces and kerbs.

These vehicles also come with features such as large sun canopy and transparent hoods, and adjustable seats.

1. Baby Jogger City Tour Double

The City Tour 2 Double is the smallest double stroller in the Baby Jogger range. It was designed specifically to travel and fits through standard doors easily due to its narrow and slim design. It's also among the lightest double buggies on the market that weighs just 14lbs when folded. It's perfect for traveling with a newborn and toddler because you won't be able to exceed the allowances for luggage on airlines. It can also be folded up to the size of a small travel bag, so you can store it in the back of your car.

The one-handed Z-shape fold is easy to fold, it's incredibly compact when you've mastered it. It can take a couple of only a few seconds to unfold. Our tester found the auto-lock a little difficult to understand, and also because the handlebar does not lock into the position you push it into and it landed on her leg when she was using it. She also believed that the handlebar was on the short side. This is especially true when a large bag for changing hangs from it.

As opposed to other light travel buggies that aren't loaded with features and is one of the most comprehensive double strollers available. It's compatible with two carrycots (available separately) It also has multiple recline positions, and has a UV 50+ canopy. You can even add a bassinet to one or both seats and transform it into a travel set-up.

The four rubber composite wheels are ideal for pavements as well as urban terrain, but they're not built for off-roading - they struggled on gravel and long grass and there's not much space between the wheel and bracket so mud got stuck easily. Our tester loved this buggy, and it was able to climb pretty muddy hills.

The seats are also adjustable which means they can be placed according to the needs of siblings. iCandy is the first to introduce a "cinema seating" design that allows parents to keep eye contact with both children. They can also be adjusted to face either the parent or the world facing.

It's a heavier tandem buggie, but it's a breeze to drive and use especially on smooth pavements. It is stable in single and double mode, and can be used on sloped terrain. It's not as easy to drive on public transport, however, because it requires more than one hand to grip the handlebar. It is also bulky and can't be stuffed into a standard car boot with the seat on, however this can be overcome by careful planning. iCandy has included a footmuff, changing bag and car seat adapters included in the price, making this an excellent value package for new parents.

The 360-swivel front wheel can be locked into place to make it easier to maneuver around town, and the one pedal brake that locks easily is simple to use.

Our testers found that the Nipper Double is incredibly easy to navigate, even on rough terrain or turning into the middle of a busy road. They were also impressed by the fact that both seats recline independently. This means they can be adjusted to suit individual needs - ideal for napping.

The hoods were also simple to adjust for sun or wind protection. They did not offer the same amount of coverage as the Baby Jogger City Mini Hoods. It's probably worth packing an extra rain cover inside the case.

Overall, our testers were impressed with the way that the Nipper Double made it possible for them to take their twins Sydney and Lyla on all sorts of adventures, from spotting wildlife in the woods, to running to the park to play with their friends. They were also awed by how comfortable and spacious the two seats are, with plenty of space for growing toddlers to play in. The lack of parent-facing seating and the inability to use car seat in this buggy were cited as a drawback by our testers. They would have also preferred a larger storage space for shopping and other equipment.
